22.05.08 - Bank Holiday weekend bus and tram services

Passengers travelling on NET between Saturday 24th May and Monday 26th May 2008 are advised that tram services between The Forest and Station Street will be replaced by buses, whilst a section of track near The Royal Centre stop is replaced.

Trams will operate as normal from Hucknall and Phoenix Park towards the City Centre, but will terminate at The Forest Park and Ride Site, where replacement buses will operate for passengers to complete their journeys.

12.05.08 - Nottingham City Council introduces the Citycard 360

Nottingham City Council introduces the new Citycard 360 - a bus pass, library and leisure centre card and retail discount card all rolled into one. And, it's free to all 11-17 year olds in the city! For more details go to www.citycard360.co.uk

12.05.08 - New Broadmarsh Bus Station Public Transport Information Point.

This new staffed office is now open 9-5 Monday to Saturday.

Passengers will be able to:

  • View departures from Broadmarsh Bus Station, on 2 new 42" electronic displays. In the case of Rainbow 5 and Rainbow 4 services, Real Time Information will be shown.
  • Pick up leaflets for all services that use the Bus Station as well as all other services that serve the City Centre.
  • Mapping information to help people wayfind to connecting services.
  • Ask staff questions related to their journey.

From 19th May passengers will also be able to:

  • use a PC connected to the internet to make Journey Planning enquires.

03.04.08 - Ecolink launched

3 Ethanol powered buses are now running on Ecolink 30 to Wollaton which will see up to 30 tonnes less CO2 per bus per annum. This is part of a City Council, emda and Nottingham City Transport trial to determine the suitability of bio-fuels to reduce the carbon footprint of transport operations in the City. 26.03.08 - New ethanol powered Ecolink 30 buses to be launched

The City Council in partnership with Nottingham City Transport Ltd will introduce the first Ethanol powered buses in the UK on the 2nd April. The 3 buses funded by EMDA (East Midlands Development Agency) will be trailed on Ecolink 30 from Nottingham City Centre to Wollaton. 21.01.08 - Queens Drive Park and Ride site is now open

18.01.08 - Queens Drive Park and Ride site is closed today

At 07:40 this morning, Nottingham City Council took the decision to close Queens Drive P & R due to the risk of further flooding on the site. Link 1 will continue to operate service to Boots only until further notice.

15.10.07 - New SMS text service

From the 1st November the 82280 number will no longer be in use as this is being replaced with the 84268 number which offers multi-operator information, real time information and simplifies SMS services from 2 to 1 in the Greater Nottingham area. 17.09.07 - QMC improvements

The City Council have installed a new electronic display on QMC forecourt which summarises all departures from the QMC area to help passengers choose which service to catch.

This is part of a City Council plan to rollout electronic displays to bus stops, hospitals, universities and business's across the City area, showing scheduled departures and real time information.

10.09.07 Robin Hood Marathon - service disruption.

23.08.07 Real time information testing for NCT service 28 and 36

Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Transport Ltd have invested in Real time equipment for all buses on the 28 and 36 route. The real time information at stops, on the web and via SMS is currently under test with the launch scheduled for September.

From September:

Real time information on 42 bus stop displays along the 36 and 28 routes - more displays coming soon. Real time information on triptimes 'favourite stop' page for reference before you leave work or home. Real time information on a new Traveline SMS 84268* number. This builds on the existing real information available for trentbarton services rainbow 4 and rainbow 5.

* The Triptimes 82280 number will no longer be in use as this is being replaced with the 84268 number which offers multi operator information, real time information and simplifies SMS services from 2 to 1 in the Greater Nottingham area.

31.05.07 Real time is nearly here....

The electronic displays on Derby Road are currently under test so they can integrate real time information with scheduled information, so in the next couple of weeks you will be able to tell when trentbarton R5 and R4 services are due at the bus stop. This is part of a 5 year plan to introduce real time across Greater Nottingham and will be rolled out to NCT services 28, 36 and the City Council contracted Link in the next 3 months, so watch this space for further updates.

13.04.07 The new Citycard is here...

From the 16th April 2007 all Nottingham City Residents (aged 18-59) will receive a Citycard. The Citycard is one card with leisure, library and travel functions on it, so no need to carry 3 separate cards. Also within the pack, residents will receive a pocket timetable for the best bus service near to their home.

01.03.07 Medilink improvements

From March 12th the free Medilink service between QMC Campus and City Hospital Campus will be undertaking a number of changes:

  • The frequency will be increased from 1/2 hourly to every 10 mins.
  • The Service will be from 0800 until 1800 Monday to Friday. Timetable to follow.
  • Link 3 and Link 4 have been integrated into this new Medilink service.
  • Medilink is a limited stop service to improve interchange to mainline services.
  • The route will be revised to include Wilkinson Street Park and Ride site and Queens Drive Park and Ride. The route is Queens Drive Park and Ride - QMC - Crown Island - Ring Road/Nuthall Road - Wilkinson Street - City Hospital.
  • Its Free.

15.02.07 - New Bulwell Local Link

The new Bulwell Local Link being run by Nottingham Community Transport under contract to Nottingham City Council will start on the 26.03.07. It will be:

  • the service is hourly between 0930 and 1630. Full timetable information to follow.
  • the route is : Bulwell Bus Station - Norwich Gardens - Bulwell Hall (Grindon Crescent) - Morrison's - Bus Bulwell Bus Station
  • the route is Hail and Ride on Grindon Crescent.
  • the route is demand Responsive to Rock Street, Lawton Drive and Longford Crescent.
  • A special trial service will also operate from Bus Station to Blenheim for the 1400 shift change.
  • Flat fare of £1.00 and usual concessions.

15.02.07 - Clifton Local Link

This service will change as follows on the 26.03.07:

  • Nottingham Community Transport will take over the contract from Nottingham City Transport Ltd.
  • The timetable will be revised . Full timetable information to follow.
  • The service will no longer be free - fares information to follow.

09.02.07 Unilink 34 route change.

In response to customer feedback the 34 service from the 12th February, will no longer operate along Science Road and will now use University Boulevard. For more details go to www.nctx.co.uk or telephone 9 50 60 70.

05.11.06 - Christmas Park and Ride

Link 1 - Sunday service

From the 05.11.06 until the 24.12.06 Link 1 will be running every Sunday at a 10 minute frequency. For more details telephone 9 50 60 70

Link 1 - Wednesday

From the 15.11.06 until the 13.12.06 the service operating times will be extended for Wednesday late night shopping. For more details telephone 9 50 60 70

Link 2 - Wednesday

01.11.2006 - Bus Industry Award Winners

The City Council has just won the Bus Industry Award Alexander Dennis 'award for enterprise' for TripMobile. The judges recognised this innovative service for its potential to appeal to a younger generation of bus users whose use of public transport is vital, if we are to achieve a more sustainable modal split and reduce CO2 emissions to meet Kyoto targets.

The City Council also came runner up in the BAA Heathrow integration award for the Citycard project. The Citycard is a smartcard that integrates travel with the reasons for travel such as shopping, cinema, sport and other leisure activities and has already generated a 3% increase in journeys . This potential for growth especially impressed the judges.

16.10.06 - New City centre bus stop coding from the 29th October 2006.

To reduce coding anomalies in the City Centre and make it easier for people to wayfind around the City Centre all bus stop codes are going to be changed following the completion of the Turning Point scheme on the 29th October 2006. For those using SMS there will be a transition period where old and new codes will be recognised but it is recommended that you use the new codes from the 29th. The City Council has been recognised for the Citycard project where the new senior and mobility Citycards can be used for leisure and libraries services across greater Nottingham, as well as travelling on the bus or tram. TripMobile - your mobile timetable.

The City Council's new TripMobile product which enables people with Internet ready phones to download timetables or the departures from their 'Favourite Stop' direct to their mobile phone , was also recognised for its potential to eradicate the need for paper timetables or phone calls to bus operators. 16.10.06 - Service 191 - Change of operator.

On the 30th October Nottingham Community Transport will take over the contract from the current operator, Midland General Omnibus Co.Ltd. The buses will be in green livery. To find out more telephone 9 50 60 70.

25.10.06 - Tripmobile - Download timetables to your mobile phone

Tripmobile has been launched so if you have an internet ready phone you can download your 'Favourite stop' timetable or bus 'Timetable' direct to your mobile phone, so there will be no need to carry around a paper timetable, send text messages or phone Traveline anymore! 23.10.06 - Link 1 and Link 2 timetable changes.

Link 1 - This service will be improved with additional later journeys in the evening following requests from employers along the route and the relocation of Halifax/Bank of Scotland to NG2.

Unilink 34: City Centre - Derby Road - Nottingham University Main Campus

Nottingham City Transport in partnership with Nottingham University and Nottingham City Council will launch this new service on the 25th September which will be every 12 mins between the City Centre and the Main Campus via Derby Road. For more details click here

Triptimes - New WAP (GPRS) mobile phone service

Soon to be launched is this new Triptimes service where you can use WAP and GPRS to download your 'Favourite stop' timetable or bus 'Timetable' direct to your mobile phone, so there will be no need to carry around a paper timetable, send text messages or phone Traveline!
